Danita Thomas Heagy , D.C., F.I.C.A.(hon.) is a practicing chiropractor, author, and speaker. Since 1983, her practice has been focused on the health and wellness of children, families and individuals, with an emphasis on detection and correction of the vertebral subluxation complex, on living a healthy lifestyle, and on education.
Dr. Heagy has been recognized by the chiropractic profession for her service to her community and colleagues by awarding her the prestigious Florida Chiropractor of the Year in 1999, the International Chiropractors Association Sports Chiropractor of the Year in 1996 and Life University's Alumna of the Year, also in 1996. She also received the FCS BJ Palmer Award in 2011. She has been published in peer-reviewed journals for her work and results with children and in the ICA Review for her work with handicapped athletes. She served on the post-graduate faculty of Life University and Palmer Chiropractic College Florida, is a former adjunct professor at Palmer Chiropractic College Florida, as well as a former and current member of the Florida Board of Chiropractic, after being appointed by Gov. Lawton Chiles in 1995 and Gov. Rick Scott in 2013.
Danita is married to the love of her life, SFC Mike Heagy (a Florida National Guard Chinook helicopter flight engineer), married since 1990. They currently reside in St. Augustine where she was born and raised. Her passion is in living life to the fullest. Her favorite pastime is the great outdoors.
